Trelex Artist Residency, Switzerland

January - March 2018

This residency, at the gorgeous Trelex manor in Switzerland, was the single longest residency I have ever undertaken - the natural fresh Swiss air, walking through the natural (snowy) trees, and focusing on all things art in the amazing studio shared with one other artist and the incredible Nina, founder of the Trelex residencies, were just a few of the things that I experienced for which there is no price tag.

Beyond The Borders, The Crypt, London

3rd - 5th August 2017

Beyond The Borders: Joseonjok's Ambiguous Identity was an ambitious exhibition about the ethnographic minority group of the Joseonjok people, with a particular focus on the community which has migrated to London. I am not of Korean descent but as a second generation Australian with Chinese Mauritian heritage, I was one of a few artists who contributed to this exhibition drawing upon our own experiences of cultural and geographical dislocation, and our attempts and responses to reconcile this.

Exhibition with Julie Brixey-Williams, East London

22nd - 26th June 2017

Reoriented: A Conversation Of Different Geographies was my first collaboration with the inspiring and versatile artist Julie Brixey-Williams, after a chance encounter in her studio and months of conversation afterwards. In this exhibition, held at the newly relocated A-side B-side Gallery in East London, we amalgamated our different approaches to the composition and handling of the "landscape" in Asian art. Combining the techniques of drawing, painting, photography and sculpture, the exhibition explored the relationship between physical and cultural heritage within the context of personal experience.

Yami-ichi Art Auction, London

26th - 29th May 2017

How does one place a value on art? This is the question Yami-ichi (Japanese for "black market") asked to the audience, who placed non-monetary bids for artworks from five different artists with completely different practices. This was the second edition of Yami-ichi and the first one held in London and I was excited to be involved. I createda new piece through the duration of the exhibition which was auctioned off at the end of the event to the most imaginative bidder, who understood the intrinsic, not just monetary, value of art.

Artist Residency at By Other Means, London

October 2016

My first artist residency in London, at the amazing By Other Means Gallery (formerly in Clapton, now in Bethnal Green), a new space promoting emerging artists. The gallery provides space for experimentation, conversation for growth and support in an industry which must increasingly support itself. I spent the entire month of October working and creating new works in the gallery, responding to everything from the decor to dancers.

Dot To Dot Public Art Exhibition

11th January - 28th February 2016

I was super excited to be involved with this great campaign with dotLondon promoting London as a city and the artworks of 20 London based artists and designers. A group exhibition of the digital works was open to the public at The Trunk, an exhibition space at The Artworks, Elephant and Castle from 12th - 17th January. Each 'dot' artwork was animated on our own personal dotLondon websites and a satellite exhibition and street posters promoted the artworks in various locations around the city.

ARTROOMS2016

22nd - 25th January 2016

An innovative form of an art fair - each artist exhibited their work not in a white walled stall but in a hotel room at the 4-star Melia White House. I was privileged to be one of the eighty artists selected from over thirty different countries to display and define their work in what is a strange fusion of a private and personal space. ARTROOMS2016 also supported Well Child Charity, donating 10% of all commissions made at the Private View on the opening night.  A series of talks and conferences were held over the four days, including a talk between myself and the Bulgarian born London-based artist Paola Minekov, mediated by MTA founder Marine Tanguy.
